Sudarshan Anand

Principal Investigator

I graduated with a PhD in Immunology working with Lieping Chen at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Subsequently I worked as a postdoctoral scholar with David Cheresh at UCSD where I investigated the role of microRNAs in tumor angiogenesis. I joined the department of Cell, Developmental Cancer Biology as an Assistant professor in March 2014 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2019.

Rebecca Ruhl

Lab Manager

My research focus is on finding biological markers that will both predict and identify early stage colorectal cancer in patients under the age of fifty. The incidence of colorectal cancer in people under fifty years of age is growing at an alarming pace. We need a new paradigm to diagnose these individuals in the early stages of disease, minimizing the impact on their well being.

Adrian Baris

Graduate Student

I am a graduate student in Cancer Biology. I joined the Anand Lab in Summer 2020. I have been exploring how nucleic acid sensing affects endothelial cells using cell culture and genetically engineered mouse models.

Arthur Affleck

Resident, General Surgery

I am a surgeon with an interest in colorectal surgery. I am spending a research year in the Anand lab working on identifying druggable targets in early onset colorectal cancer.

Deja Brooks

Graduate Student

I am a graduate student jointly mentored by Sud Anand and Michael Cohen. I joined the Anand-Cohen labs in April 2022. My work is focused on understanding how the RIG-I pathway interacts with PARP signaling in cancer.
